  • Why men shouldn't be allowed in the kitchen

The Hunny doesn't usually cook. In fact he's pretty useless at cooking. He can make spaghetti bolognaise, he can boil rice (in a rice cooker) and he can heat up food in the oven, but that's pretty much the extent of his culinary expertise.

A few weeks ago my sister came down to London to visit us and we were going to have sausages and mash for dinner. I thought my sister was going to cook as she'd text me just before I left the office saying "Shall I make a start on dinner" to which I replied "OK!". I came home to find Lily running around playing with my sisters's iphone and Hing in the kitchen with a huge saucepan of potatoes boiling away and sausages in the oven. I opened the lid of the pan and peeked into the pot and was greeted by the sight of huge potatoes bobbing round. Argh. the Hunny hadn't bothered to chop the potatoes up! At least he had the sense to peel them though so I guess we should be gratefull for that!

Anyway, the other night I came home from work and Hing said he would cook and he would make spaghetti bolognaise. He ended up dropping a heavy saucepan lid which was mostly made of glass (Prestige don't you know!) onto our fairly newish ceramic hob and denting and cracking it. Grrrr, I am so angry with him. My lovely ceramic hob is now ruined. And God knows what we're going to tell potential buyers.

So that's it, the Hunny isn't allowed back into the kitchen.

  • Hello Xanga, I've missed you....

Yes I have. Truly I have.

I wish I had time to blog more, I really do, but being a full time working mum means I scarecely have time to pee let alone blog! I am trying really hard to keep my other Lilypad blog going though. I don't know how other full time mums do it because I'm finding it really difficult to cope with work, Lily, husband, cooking, washing and housework. It feels like it's all never ending, and I never ever have any time to myself and as a result, I'm stressed, depressed, tired and grumpy. I'm up every morning at 6.00 am and most nights I don't get to go to bed until 11.00 pm. It feels like the only time I do get to breathe is when I'm at work! And even then it's not for long before colleagues start hassling me for this and that.

We're trying to sell the flat and buy a new house at the moment too which is also very very very stressful. Our estate agents seem to be utterly useless and the estate agents that I'm dealing with on the purchasing side are really annoying and pissing me off and won't stop hassling me. I've had Douglas Allen constantly phoning me up all the time trying to get me to sign up with their "preferential buyer" scheme by going in to see one of their financial advistors (even though I've already got a mortgage sorted out and I've already told them this). Apparantly this "preferential buyer" scheme means that we'd get to go and view the properties before they "go on the market" before all the other "non preferential buyers" get a look in. No thanks. I'll take my chances.

Uh oh... Lily's crying. Must dash. Toodles for now.

  • My last day of Maternity Leave

That's right, the day I have been dreading since last summer has finally arrived. Today is my last day of maternity leave and I go back to work tomorrow  Time has flown by so incredibly fast and Lily is already 9 months 1 week and 1 day old (and still a toothless wonder!). Time to start planning her first birthday party soon!

I can't believe little baby girl has grown from this tiny little bundle

    to this cheeky little minx

Awwww I love her to bits and I'm going to miss her soooooo much when I'm back at work.

Everyso often I go through phases whereby I become addicted to Ebay. I'm going through an Ebay phase right now and manically buying things for Lily which is probably not wise as the last time I became an Ebay addict I was heavily pregnant and kept buying loads of eco friendly baby products which I ended up never using and had to resell back on Ebay again. I'm also selling things on Ebay too much to the Hubs' annoyance as everytime he comes home from work he discovers that I've listed more of his stuff for sale! What I hate about Ebaying though is having to traipse all the way over to the local post office to send things. There's always a huge queue, it's full of smelly people and I can never understand what the post office workers are saying. I'll go up to the counter and ask to send my parcel by 2nd class mail, the guy behind the counter will mumble something incomprehensible, I look at him blankly, he'll mumble again, and then I just keep saying "2nd class mail, 2nd class mail" until he gives in and sells me a second class postage stamp.

Since being on maternity leave I have also become addicted to going to the co-op and I have even joined and become a member! I take Lily out for a walk everyday and the co-op is just down the road so I pop in most days to have a browse around and seek out bargains which I then SMS to Mr M as he loves a good bargain.

Anyway, enough rambling from me as I must go and prepare Lily's lunch, then take her to the baby clinic, take her books back to the library and borrow some new ones, go to the co-op, come home, write out a detailed schedule for the MIL as she's looking after Lily tomorrow.

  • I want this!

Lily needs a new pushchair! Well she doesn't really, but I want her to have a new pushchair and I have told the hubs that Lily's pushchair is on the verge of breaking apart! I have seen the sexiest mofo pushchair ever... and I WANT IT!!!!!! It's the Mamas & Papas Urbo and it's soooo sexy and sleek as it's designed for city use. It costs £295 just for the chasis, seat and rain cover. You can buy all the extras such as a car seat and carry cot, but I don't need that shit. Mamas & Papas have a sale on at the moment too, so the Urbo will only cost a bargainous £265!

I'm not sure how I'm going to convince the hubs to spend £265 on a new pushchair (Lily's current pushchair only cost us £90!) but by the power of Grayskull I will ..... somehow.
